I'm still trying to tweak all this technology so that everyone can have the best, easiest and safest experience possible so here are a couple of new updates.
1. The emails with the links to class seem to occasionally get delayed. To ensure that everyone gets the links to the classroom in time, I'm going to try posting the links to class to the Canvas site. I'm going to post these as announcements so they should be right there when you log in. Several folks have had their emails delayed for some reason and so they haven't been getting the emails on time. I'm hoping this fixes that problem. I will probably continue to send the links to class in emails as well.
2. Also, I am taking the online safety of the students very seriously. There are quite a few folks with malicious intent out there and I want to make folks as safe as possible. With that in mind I am going to begin taking the following precautions.
a. I am going to start locking the classroom about 5 minutes after class is to begin. If you are late to class PLEASE TEXT ME! (919) 907-3217 I will try to keep my phone handy so that I can let you in.
b. All attendants will be entering a waiting room before coming into the classroom. Zoom will alert me that you are in the waiting room and I will then click to let you in.
c. Use your real name or the name of your parent. Since I will need to recognize you to let you in, you must use your real name (first name is fine) in order for us to know you belong in class.
